How To Clean Commercial PVC or LVT Flooring | R Tek

When it comes to maintaining that polished, professional look of your commercial PVC or LVT flooring, a proper cleaning routine is key. Whether your work floor sees a high footfall or suffers the occasional spill, keeping your floors clean not only keeps it looking fresh but also prolongs its lifespan.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the simple yet effective steps to keep your PVC flooring remains pristine.

Regular Sweeping or Hoovering

Just like any other floor, R-Tile PVC & LVT floors need regular sweeping or hoovering to remove dirt and dust. This easy step prevents dirt particles from scratching your floor over time.

Mopping with Mild Detergent

For a deeper clean, a mop and a mild detergent work wonders. Choose a pH-neutral cleaner diluted in water to avoid unnecessary damage to your floor. Your mop only needs to be damp, not soaked, to stop excess water from seeping into the seams.

Always Clean ASAP

Accidents happen, but cleaning the spill as soon as it happens prevents damage to your flooring. As soon as a spill occurs, blot the area with a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb the liquid. Follow up with a pH-neutral cleaning solution to remove any spill left.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals

While your R-Tile flooring is pretty resilient, harsh chemicals like bleach can cause discolouration, therefore select a milder cleaning agent with a neutral PH.

Avoid Scratches

For the more stubborn stains, use a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub those stains. Using a harder or firmer brush could leave unnecessary scratches on your R-Tile flooring, defeating the purpose.

Rinse With Water

After you have cleaned your floor with the steps above, rinse the floor thoroughly with clean water on your mop to remove any remaining detergent left over.

Time to Dry

Once cleaned and rinsed, allow some time for the floor to air dry. Try to prevent people from walking over the floor when it is still drying.

Floor Scrubber Machines

For larger floor areas we recommend an auto-scrub floor scrubber machine.

Note: These instructions must be adjusted to each site’s conditions and traffic patterns where the flooring is installed.

  • Use neutral pH detergent only to avoid floor damage.
  • The application of a floor finish is not required.
  • There are many different cleaning products on the market, they are not all equally effective.
  • Grit and sand left on the surface is abrasive and will eventually scratch the flooring.
  • Rubber can permanently stain vinyl floor coverings. Use non-rubber floor protectors.

Never use household cleaning products, scouring pads, steel wool or any abrading product that could damage the surface of the flooring.
